CAHSMUN 2009 — March 06 to 08
Secretary-General’'s Address

Dear Prospective Delegates, Schools, and Faculty Advisors,

It is with great excitement that I invite you to the third annual Canadian High Schools Model United Nations (CAHSMUN) 2009. As a conference that continues to evolve to suit the needs of its delegates and with a dedicated Secretariat that strives to introduce new and innovative initiatives, I am thrilled to announce some exciting changes to our conference this year.

The 2009 conference will be held from Friday, March 6th, 2009, to Sunday, March 8th, 2009, at the Coast Plaza Hotel and Suites in beautiful downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. Amidst this stunning backdrop, the conference offers a chance for students to experience the delicate balance of international affairs, and an opportunity to learn and refine the essential skills involved in navigating complex scenarios- public speaking, negotiation, the ability to compromise, and above all, the skill of diplomacy- a difficult but rewarding art to master.

Whether you are new to the world of Model United Nations, or an experienced veteran, CAHSMUN 2009 will have something to cater to all delegates. This year, we have restructured our committees to ensure that all delegates will have a rewarding experience in their respective committees. For new delegates, or those more comfortable with working in larger committees, we present our four General Assemblies. For those who prefer to work in smaller committees or are looking for a challenge, we have three Regional and Specialized Agencies for you to experience. For those experienced delegates wishing to immerse themselves into fast-paced crises and be continually challenged with unexpected scenarios, we have two joint crisis committees, where the actions and decisions of one will be reciprocated in the other.

CAHSMUN 2009 is sure to be the highlight of any student’s year. Whether you strive to one day sit in the General Assembly at the United Nations in New York or become a doctor, CAHSMUN provides an exciting environment to hone skills that will no doubt be useful in the future.

Sincerely,
Denise Chau
